JEREMIAH Gray went out in the first half of Barangay Ginebra’s debut game in the PBA Philippine Cup after hurting his right leg in yet another injury to hit the Fil-Am guard.

Gray appeared to have tweaked his right knee while trying to elude his defender in the final two minutes of the second quarter of the Kings’ game against the Terrafirma Dyip at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The no. 2 overall pick in Season 47 draft was later replaced at the 1:27 mark and the Kings leading, 49-33.

A side court report later said an emotional Gray proceeded to the Ginebra dugout along with the team’s physical therapist to see the extent of the injury suffered by the 28-year-old guard.

A team insider said Gray is set to undergo an MRI test as he no longer saw action in the game where he finished with six points, five rebounds, and two assists as a starter.

Coach Tim Cone heaved a sigh of relief upon seeing Gray came back to the Ginebra bench for the second half.

"We lost Maiah at halftime and as a major precautionary, we didn’t play him in the second half," said the Ginebra mentor.

"He was doing OK in the locker room and he came back on to the bench. So that was a good sign that maybe it wasn’t bad as we thought it was."

Gray played for 16 minutes and was 2-of-7 from the floor as the Kings cruised to a 101-80 win.

The Ginebra guard is coming off a second ACL surgery that kept him out for 19 months before coming back last conference during the Commissioner’s Cup, where he played on restricted minutes including the finals against TNT.
