TWO top guards missed the opener of the PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday, but they are expected to be back this week when their respective teams see action once again.
Aaron Black didn’t play for Meralco on Sunday versus Rain or Shine due to a knee injury, while Aljon Melecio sat out Converge’s match against NorthPort due to a mild strain in his calf.

Their absence didn’t hurt their respective teams with Meralco defeating Rain or Shine, 105-87, and Converge beating NorthPort, 122-92.
But their coaches said the injuries are minor and both are expected to play as early as their next games.
“Aaron is actually okay,” said Meralco coach Norman Black. “He had a knee contusion in practice. He banged knees with Franky Johnson and got an MRI the other day. He was cleared.”
“He’ll be ready for Thursday’s game against NorthPort,” Black added.
“Siguro nga one week. Hopefully, he can play on Thursday,” said Ayo on Melecio’s status.
Black was the leading local for the Bolts in points and assists for the Commissioner’s Cup when he averaged 13.6 and 4.4 respectively.
Melecio averaged 11.2 points and 3.3 assists for the FiberXers during the Commissioner’s Cup.
