A former three-time PBA scoring champion is headed to the free agent market.

Veteran gunner Terrence Romeo is now an unrestricted free agent at the end of his last contract with Terrafirma, giving him the option to go to any PBA team he wants to play for.

As per Spin.ph sources, the 33-year-old shooting guard has not been offered a contract extension by Terrafirma management, signifying the team’s plan to move forward in the coming Season 50 without him in the roster after an aborted plan to sell the franchise to two prospective buyers.

Text messages to top officials of the Dyip franchise have not been replied as of posting time,

Romeo’s previous two-year deal was assumed by the former expansion franchise from San Miguel in 2023.

The former UAAP MVP from Far Eastern University, who was the PBA scoring champion from 2015-2017, was traded by the Beermen midway through Season 49 to the Dyip along with Vic Manuel for the duo of Juami Tiongson and Andreas Cahilig.

While admitting the move was one of the saddest parts of his playing career, Romeo took the trade like a pro and played the last two conferences with the Dyip.

Unfortunately, his stint with the team was marred by a number of injuries including a hurting calf during the Commissioner’s Cup and a back injury in the Philippine Cup, limiting him to less than 10 games in a Dyip uniform.

Known for his offensive explosion and ball handling skills, Romeo was a first-round pick in the 2013 draft whose rights were acquired by Globalport (now Northport) in a trade with Barako Bull.

Romeo’s fancied tandem with Stanley Pringle made them one of the most prolific backcourts back then, but not enough to propel the Batang Pier to the finals, much less a championship.

It wasn’t until he landed at San Miguel that the seven-time All-Star finally won a title, not just once but thrice, including the last one during the 2023-24 Commissioner’s Cup when the Beermen had Bennie Boatwright as import.

Prior to his San Miguel days, Romeo also had a brief but tumultuous stint at TNT which acquired him in a trade with Globalport for Mo Tautuaa.

The Tropang 5G would then send him to the Beermen for Brian Heruela and David Semerad.
