    Terrence Romeo's growing popularity in PH, Asia set to land him Peak endorsement deal

    TERRENCE Romeo’s growing appeal not only among Filipinos but also among Asian basketball fans is starting to get noticed.

    Sources told SPIN.ph the 24-year old GlobalPort star from Imus, Cavite pride is set to become one of the major endorsers of China-based Peak Sports, a leading Asian sportswear brand.

    Romeo’s dazzling basketball skills, coupled with his charisma, has made him an easy choice for Peak to be among its major endorsers, sources added.

    Peak Sports is set to formally announce Romeo’s deal on Monday.

    Once the deal is announced, Romeo is set to become the first Filipino basketball player to endorse a major global sports brand internationally.

    Peak executives, sources said, took notice of the marketability of Romeo when he became a hit among Taiwanese fans during Gilas Pilipinas' stint in the Jones Cup last year.

    The flamboyant former Far Eastern University star later turned heads in the 2015 Fiba Asia Championships, validating his status as one of the fastest-rising stars in Philippine basketball.

    Romeo hugged the headlines in Taiwan after popular Taiwanese courtside reporter Jenny Yu expressed her admiration for the young Filipino cager to the delight of the huge crowd inside the Xinzhuang Stadium.

    Peak Sports Philippines’ official Facebook page has already been releasing teasers about their next huge endorser with pictures clearly showing a silhouette of Romeo.

    A perennial star for the Philippines in the Fiba 3x3 championships, Romeo has been the Asian region’s posterboy on Fiba’s official website that showed off his dazzling ankle-breakers, some of which are featured in Fiba’s Instagram and Youtube accounts.

    “Romeo’s heartthrob persona and amazing basketball skills easily endeared him not just to Filipino fans but to Asian basketball observers and girl supporters, as well,” said a source.

    “And this is what Peak wants to capitalize on. Hopefully, Filipinos will patronize his products as the Chinese brand would want to market Terrence to Asia and hopefully to the world as well,” he added.
