DEZ Wells left San Miguel’s match against Meralco in the PBA Governors’ Cup after rolling his ankle badly in the second quarter on Sunday night.
The injury occurred when the prolific SMB import stepped on Chris Newsome’s foot while bringing down the ball at the 6:15 mark of the second quarter.
Wells returned to the bench to get treated, but got back in the game to finish the first half which ended with the Beermen trailing the Bolts, 64-49.
Wells, however, never came out for the second half, with his ankle iced at the San Miguel dugout by SMB staff.
Without Wells, the Beermen dropped a lopsided 125-99 defeat.
The San Miguel import was coming off a 56-point performance against NorthPort but in a losing cause last Wednesday as the Beermen fell to a 5-2 win-loss record.
