PHOENIX Super LPG said Matthew Wright has expressed his commitment to play for the Fuel Masters in the PBA 47th Season Philippine Cup .
Team governor Raymond Zorilla said Wright attended the Fuel Masters’ team-building session last Thursday, where he vowed to display his best effort in their title bid, amid talk about free agency and being linked to overseas leagues.

“I just talked to Matt last Thursday and he has committed to play. And sabi nga niya, I could expect that very same Matthew Wright, how he is there as a passionate player, an exciting player who is willing to take the team to great heights. He has committed to play,” said Zorilla on Monday at the sidelines of the pre-season press conference.
“We had a good talk also,” said Zorilla.

Phoenix has told Matthew Wright he is the team's No. 1 priority.
Zorilla said Wright’s contract is set to expire at the end of August, but he said the player’s focus is in the coming conference.
“It’s ongoing,” said Zorilla, referring to the contract negotiations. “Pero we decided na it’s open kasi hindi pa naman siya expiring. Ayaw din ni Matt na mag-lose ng focus sa game. We told him that he is the No. 1 priority here,” said Zorilla.
During the Governors’ Cup, Wright finished with 17.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.9 steals for the Fuel Masters, who made it to the playoffs as the eighth and last seed before being ousted by top-ranked Magnolia in the quarterfinals.
Wright was also coming off a stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the 31st Southeast Asian Games where the team only settled for silver behind Indonesia.
