The season-opening conference has a 6-foot-6 height limit for imports.
McKinnis is still in the country, but unfortunately couldn't be reactivated by the Fuel Masters since he has not been relegated by the team to the reserve list.
The 24-year-old McKinnis averaged 14.0 points and 14.5 rebounds in the two games he played for the Fuel Masters against San Miguel Beer and NLEX, both of which they lost.
And to make matters worse, Phoenix will be up against the streaking Rain or Shine Elasto Painters next at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium,
The Elasto Painters are on top of Group B with a perfect 3-0 record as the only unbeaten team in the season-opening conference.
