THE physical wellbeing of PBA coaches will also be monitored before they are allowed to join their respective teams once practices finally resume by next week.
NLEX coach Yeng Guiao said the issue was discussed during the coaches and team managers’ meeting with commissioner Willie Marcial, especially since four of the coaches today are 60 years old and above – all of them multiple champions.
Seniors as well as children are the most vulnerable of the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, according to health experts.

Guiao said as long as there’s no health issue, the senior coaches are ready to do their job.
“[Basta] wala kang health risk like high blood ka ba, meron ka bang asthma, diabetes. Basta wala kang ganyan na problema and you’re healthy, they can allow it," said Guiao, 61. "Yan ang naging usapan sa ganyang aspect.”
Aside from Guiao, other coaches who are over 60 are Tim Cone of Barangay Ginebra (62), Meralco’s Norman Black (62), and Leo Austria of San Miguel (62).
“Naging issue nga yang mga 60-and-above kaya natanong din yan kay commissioner (Willie Marcial),” said the NLEX coach.
The former Pampanga vice-governor and congressman however, assured all his fellow coaches expressed their all-out support for team practices to final restart.
“For all of the coaches, everyone is raring to go, excited, and enthusiastic,” said Guiao.
