THE PBA has officially scrapped the height limit for next season’s Commissioner’s Cup, league commissioner Willie Marcial said on Wednesday.
The scrapping of the height limit for next season’s Commissioner’s Cup was approved by the board of governors during Tuesday’s meeting.
There will still be a height limit in the PBA, but it will be implemented in the Governors’ Cup, the 49th Season curtain-raiser, where the ceiling will be at 6-foot-6.

“As of now, unli-height tayo sa Commissioner’s Cup,” said Marcial during a press briefing before Game One.
“Pumayag na rin ang board sa pino-propose ko na unlimited height,” he added.
The lifting of the height limit is set to open the league doors to more foreign players, including former NBA star Dwight Howard.
A handicapping system was once implemented during the 2015 Commissioner’s Cup where teams which are at the bottom of the team standings can field an import beyond the height limit.
Fans have also called for the height restrictions on imports to be removed since the PBA is only professional league in the world that has such rules.
Philippine Cup is season finale
The Commissioner’s Cup will be the second conference for the 49th season, and will be followed by the Philippine Cup that will coincide with the 50th year of the league.
