THE PBA has extended the deadline for submission of draft applications from May 2 to May 7, the league announced on Thursday.
The new deadline is set exactly eight days before the Season 47 draft slated on May 15.
No reason was stated by the PBA but it appeared it has something to do with the UAAP players entering the draft.

The previous deadline of May 2 was actually a day after the end of the elimination round of the ongoing UAAP Season 84 men’s basketball competition. In previous years, UAAP players were not allowed to apply for the PBA draft while the season is ongoing.
Justin Baltazar of La Salle is one of the players that will stand to benefit from the extension if UAAP players would be allowed to apply for the draft this year. La Salle on Thursday clinched a Final Four berth with a victory over Adamson, assuring that the Green Archers will be playing beyond May 1.
Local applications only need to submit a copy of birth certificate while Fil-foreigners are only allowed to submit a valid passport in lieu of the Bureau of Immigration certificate of recognition and Department of Justice affirmation.
The draft is open to players aged 22 years old and above or 19 years of age but with a minimum of two years of college education.
