Zamar’s contract with San Miguel lapsed at the end of 2022, but was under a 30-day waiting period before he can sign with a different team. During the waiting period, San Miguel traded Zamar’s rights as well as a future second-round pick to NorthPort in exchange for Allyn Bulanadi.

Blackwater was believed to in the hunt for Zamar’s services, especially since the son of SMB deputy Boycie was already practicing with the team prior to the trade.
