NORTHPORT clarified that Jamie Malonzo remains part of the squad and will suit up for the team in the PBA Season 47 Philippine Cup.
Malonzo was noticeably absent from the opening day rosters the PBA released on Monday, but head coach Pido Jarencio allayed fears that that their top rookie from last year will not be seeing action for the Batang Pier.

According to Jarencio, Malonzo’s previous contract expired just last month.
“Nagpapractice siya. Naka-pirma na siya,” said Jarencio, when asked for a clarification about Malonzo’s absence from the opening day roster.
Malonzo had an impressive first season with NorthPort, averaging 13.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.6 blocks during the Philippine Cup.

The former La Salle standout also tallied 14.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 blocks during the Governors’ Cup campaign.
NorthPort recently signed its rookies JM Calma and John Apacible but the Batang Pier though will have a smaller line-up compared to the past seasons with the absence of Greg Slaughter after the two parties could not reach an agreement.
Robert Bolick, Arwind Santos, Kevin Ferrer, Paolo Taha, Louie Vigil, Renzo Subido, Roi Sumang, Jerrick Balanza, Jervy Cruz, and the injured Jonathan Grey are also with NorthPort.
