CHICAG0 — When the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup kicks off this July 10, you can count on Blackwater to still have their top assets.
After only receiving “underwhelming” offers for Sedrick Barefield and Christian David, the Bossing have pulled the plug on any player movement, league sources told me on Wednesday night.
An irresistible proposal that will blow their minds could still change Blackwater’s tact, but that’s unlikely at this point when practices are in full swing.

Besides, Blackwater has the luxury of time.
Barefield has been “automatically renewed” until this December and keeping his rights for 17 more conferences.
David, on the ither hand, has recently re-signed a contract extension.
CULTURE CHANGE?
In a hectic offseason, Blackwater didn’t just listen to suitors, it also made an effort to improve the roster.
According to sources, a failed deal was attempted to acquire Andrei Caracut from Rain or Shine for Jack Cruz-Dumont and Troy Mallillin.
By not surrendering to disadvantageous lopsided trades and instead pivoting to improve their roster, the Bossing have shown a commitment to win.
This apparent shift by a franchise, which once faced accusations of being a farm team, is manna for the PBA.

After TNT coach Chot Reyes told me on Tuesday that “gusto ko si (Gian) Mamuyac,” I confirmed that both sides have spoken.
But nothing materialized because TNT only wanted to give Rain or Shine a second-round pick instead of a first-rounder.
