MYLES Powell had trouble remembering the names, but he was sure about the two Barangay Ginebra players that impressed him the most.

"I don't ... [remember the names]," the Bay Area Dragons import stammered when asked about the Ginebra players that made an impression on him during a special appearance in the SPIN POV (Point of View) podcast on Tuesday.

But he was quick to identify "No. 5, the older guy,' and the other player in the Ginebra backcourt in Scottie Thompson.

By 'older guy,' Powell meant LA Tenorio, the 38-year old Ginebra team captain who looked 15 years younger in Game One of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, where he hit the Dragons with a conference-high 22 points in a 96-81 Ginebra victory on Christmas Day.

"He’s a veteran, and he’s showing he’s been there before and he knows what it takes to win," said Powell, who lost the opportunity to play Ginebra in the best-of-seven finals due to what his coach Brian Goorjian described as a 'severe foot injury.'

"He makes every big shot, and not just against us, even in the two games against Magnolia which they won, he was the difference maker," he added, pointing to Ginebra's semifinal series against Magnolia which the Gin Kings won, 3-1.

"He’s doing everything that they need him to do right now, he’s hitting the open shots and getting into the lane, hitting that floating shot that he does."

The do-it-all Thompson has obviously also caught the eye of Powell, too.

"Scottie doesn’t really put the ball much in the basket, but he does everything," Powell said. He’s the first guy on the floor, he’s going for blocked shots. He’s up on all our guys. Like Kobey [Lam] scored our first nine points, and Scottie switched off on him.

"He’s just doing everything it takes for you to win."
