MIKEY Williams was at courtside for TNT’s game against Barangay Ginebra then sounded as if a return to the PBA ballclub is no longer far-fetched.
Williams showed up at the Philsports Arena on Friday night for his first appearance in a PBA game since he played for the Tropang Giga in the title-clinching Game Five of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals against Ginebra last April 21, 2023.
Mikey on PBA return: 'I would love for that to still be in play'
On that day, Williams captured his second PBA Press Corps Finals MVP award, but the relationship between star and team have since deteriorated, reaching a point where the Tropang Giga terminated his contract last year.
Williams is back in town to play for Strong Group Athletics in the Dubai International Basketball Championship then sounded as if he has softened up in a long-standing contract impasse with the flagship team of the MVP group.
“It’s very heartfelt [watching the game], I want to be out there with them, but there are some things that need to be addressed,” the high-scoring Fil-American guard said. “I definitely miss them; I wish I could compete with them.”
Williams' signing rights still belong to TNT and he emphasized that there’s nowhere he’d rather be.

“I always want to be with TNT, no question… For the last couple of years, I’ve called this my home. I definitely miss my teammates — built rapport, brotherhood with these guys,” he added.
However, Williams refused to disclose any ongoing discussions regarding a comeback in the league.
