ANTIPOLO – Marcio Lassiter became the ninth player in PBA history to reach 1,000 threes in his career on Friday.
Lassiter hit the milestone on his third three-pointer of the game for San Miguel in its 100-92 win over NLEX, joining an elite list led by Jimmy Alapag, who made 1,250 from beyond the three-point arc in his career.

Others on the list are Allan Caidic, James Yap, Dondon Hontiveros, Ronnie Magsanoc, LA Tenorio, Arwind Santos, and Al Solis, which made the feat even more special for the 35-year-old Beermen.
“Truly honored. I’m blessed,” said Lassiter, who had four threes in the win. “You’re speaking of Hall of Fame players, legends, the best to do it. And that’s something that you can’t really take away. It’s in the history books. Just grateful and thankful.”
Lassiter said reaching the mark is a testament to the work he has consistently put in over the years until today where he continues to strive to give his best in order to win more championships for the Beermen.
“It just speaks to the craft and me putting in the hard work all these years, continuing to believe in myself and my teammates. They are the ones who have been passing me the ball all these years – from Powerade, Petron, even here. Just got to thank everyone and just keep believing in my abilities,” said Lassiter.
Lassiter is not stopping here, setting his sights on topping the three-point list and winning more championships for his team. To do that, he wants to continue improving with defenses becoming better in the league.
“I want to reach the top. That’s my goal ever since. I believe in myself. It’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be harder. Each year, it gets harder just because defenses are getting better," said the Fil-Am gunner.
"But I’m just going to continue to try to improve my craft and my shot and making sure that I stay consistent, keep my percentages up, and I think if I keep my percentages high every year like I’ve been doing, good things will happen,” said Lassiter.
“In that same aspect, I can help the team win more games and get closer to our main goal which is always the championship. That’s my main goal always every season."
