TERRAFIRMA will pick first in Sunday’s PBA Season 48 Rookie Draft that will take place at Market! Market! in Taguig.
The Dyip get to select first following a formula based on their placing in the three conferences of the previous season. Terrafirma placed last in the Philippine Cup and Commissioner’s Cup, and 11th in the Governors’ Cup to gain the first pick in the coming draft.

The same formula was also followed to determine the next order of picks for the other teams. But due to previous trades made by the squads, some teams will have multiple selections in the first and second round.
Here is the draft order for the first two rounds as well as the third round and beyond, as per the PBA.
As added information, we also examined how teams were able to obtain multiple picks by looking back as past trades, a few of which dated back to 2018.
FIRST ROUND
1. TERRAFIRMA
2. BLACKWATER
3. RAIN OR SHINE
4. RAIN OR SHINE – The Elasto Painters got this No. 4 pick from Phoenix Super LPG in exchange of Javee Mocon last June 7, 2022. Rain or Shine also got Phoenix’s Season 49 second round pick as well as Nick Demusis with the Mocon deal.
5. NORTHPORT
6. PHOENIX SUPER LPG – The Fuel Masters acquired the No. 6 pick from NLEX last February 24, 2022, the last piece in the trade that sent Justin Chua from Phoenix to NLEX. Kris Porter and a Season 47 second round pick which turned out to be Encho Serrano were also part of the Chua trade.
7. NLEX – Even though it gave up their original first round to Phoenix, the Road Warriors will still select at No. 7, a pick they got from Converge following the trade that sent David Murrell and Tyrus Hill to the FiberXers on May 17, 2022 or just days after the Season 47 draft.
8. MERALCO
9. CONVERGE – The FiberXers will pick at No. 9 after they acquired this right from Blackwater along with Barkley Ebona for RK Ilagan, Mike DiGregorio, and Tyrus Hill during a January 3, 2023 trade. The pick, however, was originally owned by TNT, which gave it up to Blackwater when it served as a conduit to allow Poy Erram to move from NLEX to TNT last February 28, 2020.
10. CONVERGE – They got two first round draft picks, and will be selecting at No. 10, ironically, with David Murrell involved again. Magnolia originally owned the pick and received Murrell and Abu Tratter from Converge in exchange of the right and Adrian Wong last April 14, 2023.
11. NORTHPORT – This pick was received by the Batang Pier from Barangay Ginebra as part of the Jamie Malonzo trade last September 20, 2022, with the Gin Kings also parting ways with Jeff Chan and Arvin Tolentino aside from the selection.
12. TERRAFIRMA – The Dyip will pick twice including the last pick of the first round which they got from the blockbuster CJ Perez trade to San Miguel on February 2, 2021. This pick was the reason why the trade was approved as it was an additional piece that the Dyip got aside from Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Russel Escoto, Gelo Alolino, and the Beermen's Season 46 first round draft pick, which turned out to be James Laput.

SECOND ROUND
13. TERRAFIRMA
14. CONVERGE – The FiberXers’ first of two second round picks was actually acquired from their Alaska days as part of the deal that sent JVee Casio to Blackwater last October 12, 2021.
15. RAIN OR SHINE
16. PHOENIX SUPER LPG
17. PHOENIX SUPER LPG – This pick was originally from TNT but this has been traded many times. It started when the Tropang GIGA acquired this pick as part of the trade that sent Jericho Cruz to NorthPort, which in turn served as a conduit and moved him to NLEX in 2019.
TNT then traded this pick along with Jay Washington to Blackwater for Carl Bryan Cruz on December 3, 2021.
Blackwater would then include this pick along with PBA Season 47 number one pick Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and another future selection in a deal to NLEX for Calvin Oftana and Raoul Soyud, who were eventually shipped as well to TNT as part of a three-team deal.
This pick finally ended up at Phoenix, which served as a conduit that allowed TNT to acquire Justin Chua and Paul Varilla to NLEX last January 18, 2023.
18. NLEX
19. CONVERGE
20. BLACKWATER – The Bossing got this pick dating back to 2019 when they parted ways with Allein Maliksi and Raymar Jose. Aside from the pick, Blackwater also got Mike Tolomia, KG Canaleta, and the 2020 second round pick which eventually became Rey Mark Acuno.
21. NLEX – This pick originated from TNT and was received by Blackwater as part of a three-team trade that allowed NLEX to acquire Poy Erram from the Bossing in 2019.
The pick was again part of a March 11, 2021 trade between the three parties with NLEX receiving this pick as one of the assets that allowed TNT to get the Road Warriors’ No. 4 pick that turned out to be Mikey Williams, and the Road Warriors receiving the said second round pick, Don Trollano, Roi Sumang, and Maurice Shaw.
22. TERRAFIRMA – Like in the first round, the Dyip will pick twice again in the second round after it dealt Russel Escoto to Magnolia in exchange of this selection during a 2021 trade.
23. BARANGAY GINEBRA
24. RAIN OR SHINE – This is the third and final pick that was acquired from TNT in 2020 in exchange of Ed Daquioag. This pick though was actually owned by San Miguel and was used in 2018 to acquire Paul Zamar from Blackwater. The draft right ended up with TNT as part of the aforementioned Poy Erram-to-NLEX deal in 2019, with the Tropang GIGA eventually trading the pick to Rain or Shine a year after receiving it.
THIRD ROUND AND BEYOND

26. BLACKWATER
27. RAIN OR SHINE

29. NORTHPORT
30. NLEX
31. CONVERGE
32. MERALCO
33. TNT
34. MAGNOLIA
35. BARANGAY GINEBRA
