NLEX coach Frankie Lim is relieved to get a win even with foul issues throughout their game against Converge on Saturday in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The Road Warriors took a 116-112 victory over the FiberXers after a foul-marred game — the teams combined for 69 fouls, with NLEX being slapped with 34.

NLEX also gave up 47 free throws, with Converge hitting 38. The Road Warriors tallied 22 out of 27 from the line.

“Baka ma-fine ako eh, wag na lang,” said NLEX coach Frankie Lim, when asked to discuss the free throws.

Two players fouled out for NLEX in Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and Jake Pascual. For Converge, Alec Stockton also had six fouls, with several more for both teams in foul trouble.

Lim thinks that the fouls were also due to their defense against Converge in the game.

“Obvious naman, marami kaming fouls … Was it our defense di ba? Masyado lang siguro kaming aggressive. Gustong-gusto naming manalo kaya ganun,” said Lim.

One thing is was certain for NLEX, said Lim, is the game plan was to prevent Converge from scoring quickly, and disrupting their plays early.

“I challenged my players. I want the guys to be sprinting back para hindi sila maka-one-on-one. ‘Yung early offense nila, first eight seconds, we want to stop that. Nangyari naman. Ginawa naman nila. They came back,” said Lim.
