THE indefinite absence of Beau Belga has prompted Rain or Shine to sign Kris Porter for the rest of the season.
Elasto Painters coach Yeng Guiao said Belga will likely miss a lengthy period as he has been dealing with vertigo that has led to dizzy spells during games.
In need of a big man that is already familiar with his system, Guiao said he opted to bring in Porter so there will be little to no adjustments once he joins the team.

Guiao drafted the former Ateneo player in the second round, at No. 16 overall, when he was still the head coach of NLEX.
The wide-bodied Porter was playing for the Batangas City Tanduay squad in the MPBL this season before getting the offer to return to the PBA through Rain or Shine.

“Actually, he can practice,” said Guiao, referring to Belga. “But still, we want to be safe. We want him to be able to have him recover fully.”
“Si Kris Porter, sign namin basically to have another big body na puwedeng pang-matchup sa malaki rin,” said Guiao.
“Nagpa-practice na siya ilang araw. Dati ko namang player sa NLEX. He knows me and I know him. I don’t think magkakaroon ng problema sa blending niya sa team,” said Guiao.
The outspoken coach also joked that there is another reason why he opted to sign Porter.
“Gusto namin ‘yung may itsura din. Bawal ang pangit dito sa Rain or Shine. May advantage siya doon. Nakakuha siya ng advantage,” said Guiao in jest.
