CHRISTIAN Standhardinger is the top candidate for the Best Player of the Conference award, but he is dead sure where Barangay Ginebra teammate Justin Brownlee ranks among PBA imports.
“The GOAT,” said Standhardinger. “In my humble opinion, the GOAT of the PBA. I think there wasn’t a better import ever in this league even if he wouldn’t win championships anymore, which I hope he will win a lot of championships.”

Standhardinger said Brownlee’s resume speaks volumes of how great he is – 6-of-6 in the finals and three Best Import awards. A fourth PBA Best Import award is within reach for Brownlee as he is in sixth place in the statistical race.
Aside from his accomplishments, Standhardinger said what makes Brownlee great is his unselfishness.
“If you see his record in the finals, if you see what he brings to the table, I don’t want to name any other imports but sometimes, you see that other imports are kinda looking for themselves. But Justin is great at making us better as well. I think that’s the differential factor.”
“It’s not just he is producing for himself, big numbers, it’s a huge difference when he plays, he gets his teammates involved,” said Standhardinger, who won two of his four career PBA championships with Brownlee as his import.
The Ginebra big man said Brownlee is so good that he is capable of producing huge numbers, scoring-wise, but would rather get his teammates involved.
“I think he can go every game for 40,” said Standhardinger. “But sometimes, he chooses to score 25 so to speak but gets his teammates involved. And that’s why he is great.”
Standhardinger also noted how difficult it is to defend Brownlee because of his wide range of skills and shots.

“He has no weakness. What is his weakness? Because I guard a lot of imports. I kinda know that this is what I want to do because he is not as great in this area.”
“I would not know how to guard Justin. He has a midrange shot, he has a three-point shot, he has a penetration, a post-up game. He is a complete player.”
“I truly believe he is the best PBA import that’s up there and played,” said Brownlee.
