HIS mom rarely gets to see him play live, so June Mar Fajardo just wears a representation of her as if she’s there.
The Gilas Pilipinas star slotman wore a black shirt that read '#Mamasboii' at the front and bore a picture of him and his mom, Marites, at the back on Tuesday night as he watched Gilas Pilipinas practice from the sidelines at the Meralco gym.
“Nasa bahay lang sila (sa Cebu) eh,” Fajardo said of mom, who’s turning 50 this year. “Hindi naman sila pumupunta dito sa Manila. Bihira lang. Hindi mo maaya yung tatay ko. Hindi umaalis sa probinsya. Chill lang sila.”
So maybe that’s why the Cebuano pride had the shirt custom-made.
“Pinagawa ko,” the 27-year-old three-time reigning MVP said.
Apart from his family, Fajardo also misses his Gilas seniors, including Marc Pingris and Ranidel de Ocampo, who are no longer part of the pool.
“Pero gagawin ko lahat kung anong matutulong ko sa team,” he added as he took a rest on the eve of San Miguel Beer’s Commissioner’s Cup matchup against Mahindra at the Cuneta Astrodome.
