JUNE MAR Fajardo moved five points shy of 10,000 career points after hitting a conference-high in the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup match on Wednesday against Terrafirma.
The nine-time PBA MVP had 25 points in San Miguel’s 135-105 win to close in on a career milestone that only an elite group has achieved.
Fajardo will look to become the 18th local and 19th overall including import Norman Black, to surpass 10,000 points on October 21 when San Miguel faces NLEX in its final game of the eliminations.

If he succeeds, he will only be the second active player to do so after TNT guard Jayson Castro also reached 10,000 last May 13, 2026 in a game against NLEX at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
He would also become the fifth player – local and import - to reach the 10,000-point mark while playing for San Miguel after Black, Abet Guidaben, Allan Caidic, and Nelson Asaytono, according to PBA statistics chief Fidel Mangonon.
“Hindi ko naman chine-chase ‘yun pero thankful ako na mapapasama ako sa 10,000-point club. Isang karangalan na mapabilang ako doon,” said Fajardo.
Fajardo had all the fourth quarter to reach the milestone in San Miguel’s game against Terrafirma. But with the game already out of reach, Fajardo asked that he sit it out and give the playing time to his other teammates.
“Gusto ko sana siyang ibalik in the fourth quarter because of that milestone,” SMB coach Leo Austria said. “But he refused to do that because he wants his teammates to play and have a long playing time inside dahil alam naman niya na na next game, (may) chance pa rin and then after that, may quarterfinals pa.”
“That’s a good thing for a great player like him. He’s thinking of his teammates,” said Austria.
