JONG Uichico is returning to a head coaching position in the PBA as he takes over the NLEX job beginning next season.
The Road Warriors announced Uichico’s promotion on Friday, replacing Frankie Lim. Uichico was previously an assistant coach under Lim.

Uichico brings a coaching resume which includes nine PBA championships with three different teams in San Miguel, Barangay Ginebra, and TNT.
He last handled a head coaching position in the PBA with TNT in 2016.

Uichico became NLEX’s lead assistant last year, and even temporarily took over as head coach for one game last March in a game against Blackwater after Lim sustained a wrist injury in practice.
“The NLEX Road Warriors are excited to take this new journey with coach Jong Uichico,” said NLEX Corp. president and general manager Luigi Bautista in a statement.
“He brings a wealth of experience to the squad and a clear idea of what it takes to win a championship as the fourth-winningest coach in PBA history,” said Bautista.
Uichico's appointment was announced just minutes after the company said Lim has stepped down as head coach after two years with the ballclub.
