See Meralco replacement import Jessie Govan 'over the height limit'
“Nakuha namin si Jessie Govan,” confirmed team manager Gee Abanilla.
A product of Georgetown, Govan was initially set to play for Meralco in the last PBA Commissioner’s Cup to replace Johnny O’ Bryant.
He was scheduled to be measured at the league office prior to the Bolts’ game against San Miguel, only for Meralco officials to cancel it off at the last minute after it was determined the import would exceed the 6-foot-10 height limit.
Meralco ended up signing undersized KJ McDaniels instead.
“He’ll be arriving baka third week of February,” added Abanilla.
Govan will team up with Cameron Clark for the Beermen as one of the PBA’s representatives to the March 1 to 5 regional meet.
San Miguel is in Group A and will play Carl Tamayo and Ryukyu Golden Kings on March 2, before facing Renz Abando and Anyang KGC on March 4.

Govan was undrafted in the NBA after playing for the Hoyas from 2015-2019.
He did play in the Asian circuit, suiting up for the San-en NeoPhoenix, Kyoto Hannaryz in the Japan B League and Seoul Samsung Thunders in the Korean Basketball League.
He also had stints with the NBA G League Ignite.
