BARANGAY Ginebra coach Tim Cone was genuinely thrilled to see Greg Slaughter when the latter dropped by the Gin Kings' practice facility inside the San Miguel Corp. complex in Pasig City on Tuesday.
"Really excited that he came to visit," Cone told SPIN.ph when asked about the impromptu reunion with the former Ginebra center, which was captured for posterity in a photo that Slaughter shared on IG Story.

Slaughter, 37, was the No. 1 draft pick overall by Ginebra in 2013 but won his four championships with the PBA's most popular club under Cone, the last in the 2019 Governors Cup.
The former University of Visayas and Ateneo standout also won his lone PBA Best Player of the Conference award during that time.

Although his departure from Ginebra via trade for Christian Standhardinger of NorthPort was by no means amicable, Cone was thrilled to welcome Slaughter to the new practice facility which they share with San Miguel and Magnolia.
Too bad the rest of Slaughter's former teammates, including good friend Japeth Aguilar, weren't around.
Cone said he and his staff were conducting private workouts with some PBA Rookie Draft hopefuls when Slaughter dropped by.
"We were looking at possible draftees [when he arrived]," Cone said.
But before fans of Ginebra and Slaughter get too excited, the two-time grand slam winner made it clear the seven-footer wasn't there for any negotiations with his former team.
"Nothing in the works," Cone said curtly.

Still, the past season has shown that Ginebra's frontline can use some upgrade following the departure of Standhardinger and the injury that kept Isaac Go out of action since his arrival via trade with Terrafirma last season.
So let's hope that changes.
