DAVID Murrell is one day away from becoming a King.
The Magnolia free agent is being claimed off waivers by Barangay Ginebra and teams and will be free to sign with the Gin Kings if no other PBA team stakes a claim on him at the end of office hours on Tuesday.

Under PBA rules, a free agent belonging to either the San Miguel or MVP camps cannot be signed by a sister team unless he is waived by the league's other teams.
The Office of the Commissioner issued a memo last April 17 informing nine non-SMC teams of Ginebra's intent to pick up the 27-year old Fil-Am and reigning PBA slam dunk champion from Magnolia.
League sources confirmed no team has made a bid to claim Murrell so far, meaning Ginebra can formally sign him if the Commissioner's Office doesn't hear from any of the nine non-SMC teams at the end of office hours on Tuesday.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone confirmed the team is looking for help outside the organization to fill a void in its frontline that only got worse after Jamie Malonzo suffered a calf injury that could keep him out for up to eight weeks.
Aside from Malonzo, Aljon Mariano and Jeremiah Gray have been out for a while for the Gin Kings owing to injuries.
“I think we already put a claim in for David Murrell, and we are waiting to see if anybody else is going to pick him up. We are looking for some guys from the MPBL that have gone there recently,” said the two-time grand slam winner.

"I’m sure there might be things out there, that’s what the week is going to be. Could be a free agent, could be somebody that has been released by the other teams."
