ANTIPOLO – Gian Mamuyac had an opportunity to draw up a play for Rain or Shine during its runaway win over Terrafirma.
The Elasto Painters skipper had the coaching board during a timeout with 6:17 left in the fourth quarter as the Dyip were trying to mount a comeback.
“Sakto kasi maaga natapos si Coach Yeng [Guiao] mag-explain. Nagkaroon ng opportunity na mahaba pa timeout, and may nakita ako sa defense na ginagawa ng Terrafirma,” said Mamuyac.

“Sinubukan ko lang sabihin sa teammates,” the former Ateneo player added.
Mamuyac playfully pointed two fingers to his head after finishing his instructions to the players during that timeout.
The 27-year-old Mamuyac said what he did during that timeout is a reflection of how open Rain or Shine is to the ideas of each and everyone during the game.
“Yun naman ang maganda sa team namin. Lahat may boses. Lahat may leeway na sabihin kung ano yung nakikita nila. Kasi tulung-tulong din naman ang basketball eh. Nagkataon lang na ako nakakita ng adjustment na yun at nakapag-adjust kami,” said Mamuyac.
Mamuyac contributed 11 points, four assists, and three steals in the Elasto Painters' 124-117 win over the Dyip. The game saw Rain or Shine lead by as many as 26 points and make 23 threes and fours, tying a league record.
Rain or Shine now owns a 7-0 win-loss mark and Mamuyac said the team is sticking to what works.
“We are sticking to our system. Lagi naming binibilisan yung bola, yung ball movement namin. Talagang tulung-tulong namin ginagawa. Hindi kami nagre-rely sa individual personnel. Balanced scoring kami. Ikot ng ikot yung bola.
"Makikita niyo halos iba-iba yung [Best] Player of the Game. Ngayon, si Anton (Asistio). Last game, si JJ (Jaylen Johnson), Felix (Lemetti), si Nocs (Adrian Nocum). Ganun lang talaga kagandahan ng sistema namin.
"Hopefully, mag-tuluy-tuloy. Lahat nagba-buy in sa system,” said Mamuyac.
