CHICAGO — Time doesn’t always heal all wounds. In some instances, the ticking clock only plants the seeds of resentment.
Jamike Jarin, the quiet, soft-spoken coach of the Lyceum Pirates in the NCAA, found that out the hard way.

Handpicked by newly minted NLEX coach Jimmy Alapag, Jarin was set to assume the post as top deputy.
But something weird happened on the way to his PBA return.
A 10-year old ghost, furious and fuming with enmity, leapt out of the closet.
BLAST FROM THE PAST.
“Derailed by a past issue” was how a Sources Say article at SPIN.ph described the abrupt end of the Jarin-NLEX collaboration.
Let me elaborate.
In December 2016, months after leading the San Beda Red Lions to the NCAA Season 92 title, Jarin abruptly left.
He had a live four-year contract then and the sudden exit to NU did not sit well with the bosses.

Long story short, Jamike poked the Red Lions and got ran over by the Road Warriors.
I get it, hell hath no fury than a franchise scorned. But isn’t a decade enough time to process the trauma of rejection and move on?
FOREVER MAD.
Apparently, at the high towers of the MVP Group, where decisions on who gets hired or fired are made, bitterness and animosity never grow old.
After 10 years, you’d think forgiveness will muzzle the flame thrower.
It was wrong of Jarin to dishonor his deal but he didn’t decimate San Beda’s program, either. In fact, San Beda won four more NCAA men’s titles since he departed.
That brief dalliance with the Bulldogs shouldn’t cancel the fact that Jarin, in his core, is an MVP guy and Ateneo alum who served in various capacities with the Blue Eagles program and at TNT where much of his 17 won championships were accumulated.
Loved by his peers and respected by his rivals, the NLEX roadblock is a fate Jamike Jarin didn’t deserve.
But then again, a great grudge can always put a good man down.
