QUIETLY, the move to add Jamike Jarin to the NLEX coaching staff under Jimmy Alapag was aborted.

SPIN.ph learned from various sources that plans to have Jarin join Alapag in his first-ever PBA coaching job no longer prospered apparently after a 'past issue’ came back to haunt Jarin just before the start of the season-ending Governors’ Cup.

The matter, sources said, had something to do with Jarin leaving the San Beda Red Lions program after steering the team to back-to-back NCAA Finals appearance that led to the school winning the championship in Season 92.
Jarin instead accepted a coaching job at National University.
Jarin, sources sat, was Alapag's own choice as deputy coach when he accepted the NLEX job. The two became close during their time at TNT when Jimmy served as the team’s premier playmaker and Jamike was part of the coaching staff under Chot Reyes and, later, Norman Black.
Jarin already joined the Road Warriors in practice for two days before the issue was brought up.
Time heals all wounds? Apparently, not so in this case.
“May mga bagay lang na biglang nagbalik sa alaala,” were the cryptic words of one of the sources privy to the situation.
Jarin's sole focus now is on the Lyceum Pirates' campaign in the NCAA after a three-year stint with the Phoenix Fuel Masters as coach and, later, as consultant.
Alapag, meanwhile, has kept the NLEX coaching staff intact that included former head coach Jong Uichico and fellow veteran Adonis Tierra, Borgie Hermida, Emman Monfort, Melo Lim, Anton Escolin, Jorge Sison, and Woody Co. - Gerry Ramos
