IN four days' time, Bradwyn Guinto will be a free agent.
Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao confirmed the development on Friday, saying the former San Sebastian standout will be released by Rain or Shine once his contract expires on January 24.
News of the unconditional release of a 6-foot-6 center in the prime of his career at 31 sounded odd, more so since the seven-year pro impressed enough to earn a Gilas Pilipinas invitation and a PBA All-Star appearance in 2017.

RoS also gave up two players in Sidney Onwubere (now with Barangay Ginebra) and Clint Doliguez (now with NLEX) to NorthPort to get its hands on Guinto in a 2021 trade executed before Guiao's return.

Guiao said the Elasto Painters had to drop Guinto to make room for James Yap, the two-time MVP who is coming back for what is expected to be his farewell PBA campaign in the coming Governors' Cup.
The veteran coach admitted the team doesn't keep reserves because of 'budget considerations.'
The Elasto Painters, he added, did try to trade the bruising big man but found no takers. The team's frontline is also crowded with Beau Belga, Jewel Ponferada, Norbert Torres, Santi Santillan, and import Michael Qualls.
