BASER Amer has come to terms with NLEX and is set see action for the Road Warriors in the coming PBA Philippine Cup.
The veteran guard has yet to sign a contract with his new team, but is already a lock for his impending reunion with college coach Frankie Lim as he had been practicing with the team for more than a week now.
READ Blackwater, Baser Amer part ways after contract impasse
Amer became an unrestricted free agent after Blackwater decided to release him upon the expiration of his old contract last month. Both parties failed to reach a deal on a new contract.
The Road Warriors of course, expressed interest in the 31-year-old guard especially after its backcourt was decimated following the injuries to Kevin Alas, Matt Nietto, and just recently Rob Herndon.
Baser Amer steps in
At the same time, Amer played his rookie year under Lim during his time with the San Beda Red Lions, winning an NCAA men’s championship together in 2011.
The 6-foot, Davao City native will be the third former Red Lion to join NLEX since Lim came on board almost two years ago.
Another ex-San Beda player who played for Lim but is already with NLEX before is gunner Anthony Semerad, while Robert Bolick was also a former star with the Mendiola-based school, but never got to play for Lim.
