ARWIND Santos is targeting a February return as he remained sidelined to start the PBA Governors’ Cup for NorthPort.

Santos said he is still recuperating after undergoing a procedure to remove bone spurs in his left knee that kept him out of the Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.

The 41-year-old Santos said since he has been relatively healthy throughout his career, it was the first time that he underwent such a procedure. Santos said he wants to make sure that he is fully healed instead of risking getting re-injured.

“Okay naman ang recovery. Dumadaan kasi sa proseso na meron kang pinalinis, hindi mo puwedeng madaliin dahil ikaw ang makakaramdam,” said Santos.

“Kapag sinusubukan mong galawin, meron pang konting konti pa. Kailangan mawala ‘yun para kapag may hinabol ako, may ni-rebound ako, may iba-block ako, dumepensa, ayokong may nararamdaman ako,” said Santos.

“Iba ‘yung kapag sa daliri lang. Okay lang kahit masakit ‘yan. Kayang kaya. Pero iba pag sa lower kasi nandoon ‘yung speed at power ko,” said Santos.

The Batang Pier suffered a 122-92 defeat to Converge to start off their campaign in the Governors’ Cup, but Santos remained confident his teammates will be able to rack up a couple of wins in the conference.

“Pipilitin ko na mid-February. Sana makapanalo ‘yung mga kasama ko. Nandoon naman ‘yung tiwala ko sa kanila. Bago ako makalaro, kahit mga 4-2 man lang bago makabalik,” said Santos, with a smile.
