NORTHPORT team governor Erick Arejola was on the bench for Wednesday’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup game against Barangay Ginebra, his first public appearance since getting embroiled in a controversial brawl during an NBTC qualifying tournament in Las Piñas City.
Arejola was in his usual spot in the Batang Pier bench and witnessed their 119-116 victory over the Gin Kings at the Philsports Arena, a welcome sight after a tumultuous weekend for the PBA executive.

Arejola was at the center of a controversial brawl during an NBTC game between De La Salle-Zobel and Arandia College. He was seen in a video that went viral chasing then attacking an opposing player in the bench-clearing melee.
Arandia College vowed to sue Arejola and other parents who were involved in the melee, claiming that six players were hurt during the incident.
“Kung feel ng parents nila na dahil mayaman sila at nasa posisyon sila at kaming maliit ay gaganituhin nila, siguro dapat ang batas ay walang kinikilingan. Itutuloy ko po ang kaso,” said school president and CEO Yolanda Arandia in an interview with News5.
The NorthPort official didn’t issue a statement to the media, but sources close to Arejola bared he only entered the court to pull his son Champ out of the commotion, only to see him get punched by a player from the opposing team.
Champ's mother and sister were near him when he was attacked, the source added.
