ARANDIA College is determined to pursue charges against NorthPort governor Erick Arejola and other parents from De La Salle Zobel following the ugly brawl that marred an NBTC local qualifying tournament in Las Piñas over the weekend.
“Kung feel ng parents nila na dahil mayaman sila at nasa posisyon sila at kaming maliit ay gaganituhin nila, siguro dapat ang batas ay walang kinikilingan. Itutuloy ko po ang kaso,” said school president and CEO Yolanda Arandia in a report by News5.

Footage from the incident saw Arejola charging at a player during the melee which saw both benches emptying.

Arandia College coach Cezar Babasa also shared that six players were hurt in the incident during the semifinal match of the LPM Basketball League.
“Three parents ang nakita ko na bumababa sa bench,” he shared.
“Yung naka-white, pinapahawakan niya yung player ko na i-lockdown, pero nakatakbo yung player ko, pinatid pa nga ng isang parent.”
Las Pinas lockdown
Meanwhile, the final of the LPM Basketball League between the Jr. Archers and AMA Basic Education will push through on Sunday behind closed doors at the Las Pinas City Municipal Gymnasium.
To avoid another unfortunate incident, the NBTC will have its own technical officials and referees to oversee the game, on top of adding more security to the venue.
Since last year, local organizers for the Philippine national under-19 basketball championship were given free rein for their respective qualifiers. The NBTC now only directly oversees its four regional championships and annual National Finals.
In the aftermath of the ugly brawl, suspensions were also meted out to DLSZ's Juan Carlos Espinosa and Paul Jose Reguera, who will be forced to sit out the final, as well as Arandia College's Jerreck Rellama and Raynr Ashley Mata, who will serve the ban if and when their team decides to join the local qualifier anew next year.
