The Gilas Pilipinas guard scored 29 points in the second half alone, including the clutch three-pointer that gave the Jazz a 149-142 lead with 1:44 minutes left to play.
Lauri Markkanen added 31 points while Collin Sexton chipped in 25 points for the Jazz, who have now won five straight at home.
The Jazz have now won nine of their last 12 after a lackluster start to the season that led to speculations about a possible trade for Clarkson away from Utah.
The Jazz are now 15-19 and in 12th place in the Western Conference. The Pistons are 3-30 and at last place in the East.
