TWO more Filipino imports enter the esteemed 1,000-point club in the Japan B.League over the opening weekend of 2024.

With his first basket in a 17-point outing in Kyoto Hannaryz's 83-99 loss to Chiba Jets on Sunday, league sophomore Matthew Wright became the fastest Filipino to hit 1,000 points after just 80 games — two less than Shiga Lakes' Kiefer Ravena when he unlocked the feat in February last year.

Averaging 10.9 points in 27 games as of posting for Kyoto, Wright has another record among all Filipino imports in Asian leagues under his belt — the single-game scoring benchmark of 31 points versus Thirdy Ravena's San-En Neophoenix earlier this season.
Moreover, Ray Parks Jr. also reached the historic milestone for Nagoya Diamond Dolphins exactly a week since Dwight Ramos accomplished the same feat for Levanga Hokkaido.

Albeit in a 79-92 losing effort to San-en in which Ravena — a fellow B.League centurion — had himself a breakout performance, Parks Jr. and Wright shared an unforgettable weekend following a personal achievement that held significance not only for themselves but also for all locally trained basketball players in international leagues.
Ramos, Parks Jr., and Wright blasted past the century mark in succession in a roughly a span of one week — just about a year since the Ravena brothers became the first Filipino pair to do so.
