RYUKYU Golden Kings admitted the 'lack of playing time' was at the center of Filipino import Carl Tamayo's decision to leave the Japan B.League club.
The Golden Kings made this clear in a statement it released on Thursday, shortly after granting a request of their Asian Heritage Player to be released.

"This was a difficult decision but taking into consideration both the current team situation and the lack of sufficient playing time for Carl, both parties mutually agreed that proceeding with a contract termination is best for the team and Carl’s future basketball career," the Japan B.League club explained.
The team said the decision was mutual for the two parties.
For two seasons at Okinawa, Tamayo played mostly behind former NBA player and ex-Meralco import Allen Durham with the Golden Kings, explaining his limited minutes on the court.

The announcement was made just days after the 2024 Okinawa All-Star Weekend where Tamayo became instrumental in the Asia All-Stars' win against Rising Stars.
"We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Carl for his contribution to the Ryukyu Golden Kings over the past two seasons and we wish him all the best and continued success throughout his future," Ryukyu added.

The 22-year-old former University of the Philippines forward said the feeling was mutual.
"Thank you for being the driving force behind every victory and for making my time with the Ryukyu Golden Kings truly unforgettable. Your encouragement has fueled my passion, and for that, I am sincerely thankful. Wishing you all continued joy and success," he said.
