TERRENCE Romeo said missing the Gilas Pilipinas line-up for the Asian Games has motivated him to work even harder for another national team call-up.
Romeo said he definitely wants another national team stint after being considered for the Asiad line-up only to be dropped. The San Miguel guard was not part of the initial list that basketball officials submitted to the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, thus he could not see action.

Romeo admitted he was disappointed over not making the team that eventually won the gold medal in the Asian Games.
“’Yung disappointment, disappointment lang na parang hindi ako nakapaglaro pero hanggang doon lang ‘yun kasi alam ko naman na may mga bagay bagay na hindi time na ‘to nangyayari, sa ibang time puwedeng mangyari,” said Romeo on Tuesday during the PBA Media Day.
“Ang importante, ready ka when the day comes at kapag dumating na ‘yun,” said Romeo.
Romeo said he finds solace in the fact that they were considered to be part of the final line-up.
“Like for example, hindi naman kami na-line-up nila Calvin, ni Mo, at ni Jason kasi kumbaga it’s out of our control. Pero gusto kami ni coach Tim, gusto kami ng management. Pero ‘yung sa China, hindi namin kontrolado ‘yun,” said Romeo.
“Ang thinking ko is siyempre nalungkot ka, first comeback namin ni Calvin, pero linagay ko sa mind ko na hindi naman doon natatapos ‘yun. Naglalaro pa rin ako, naglalaro pa rin kami. I’ll make sure na sa susunod, mabibigayan ako ng opportunity, I’ll make sure na ready ako kasi ‘yun lang naman ang nag-mamatter. Malay mo next Gilas uli, meron uli na ipatawag kami. I’ll make sure na ready ako mag-compete sa spot ko and make sure na ready ako para makatulong sa Gilas at sa program,” said Romeo.
Romeo nevertheless is very happy with the accomplishment of Gilas Pilipinas after breaking the 61-year gold-medal drought of the team in the Asian Games competition.
“’Yung paghihinyang nandoon lang ako, pero sobrang saya naming apat na nag-champion at nag-gold tayo. Proud kami sa mga teammates namin kasi sama-sama kaming nag-sacrifice. Sama-sama kaming nag-practice. Sobrang proud kami sa kanila,” said Romeo.
