HERE’S a rejoinder to the Sources Say story from two weeks about a prominent billionaire slash sportsman who’s seeking a controlling share in one company that owns a PBA franchise.

SPIN.ph has learned that the deal was already finalized and that the tycoon has in fact already met the entire team personally less than a week ago.

The gathering was held in a popular fine-dining restaurant located in Greenhills which the new team majority owner is known to frequent.

Players and personnel of a team that was reportedly facing some financial difficulties this season welcomed the entry of the business mogul, who’s expected to infuse fresh funds into the franchise.

The businessman-sportsman is widely known as a competitor and is expected to help turn the season around for the team.

    Jack Animam set for Gilas Pilipinas Women comeback

    JACK Animam will likely play for Gilas Pilipinas Women in two international competitions in the coming months.

    According to sources, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has informed the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) of her inclusion to the line-up for the FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico from August 17 to 23 and the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4.

    For so long one of the faces of women’s basketball in the Philippines, Animam is in line for a return. Her last appearance in a Gilas uniform was during the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in July where she helped the country finish sixth in the tournament and retain their place in Division A.

    Animam missed the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok last December and the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifiers last March in Villeurbanne, France.

    Recently, Animam signed with Polish club Energa Torun for the 2026-27 season. - Reuben Terrado
