SEAN Chambers was curiously present during Gilas Pilipinas’ training camp at the Inspire Sports Academy in Laguna.
A photo of the current Far Eastern University coach was posted by the Inspire Sports Academy Facebook page on the first day of Gilas practice to begin their build-up for the Fiba Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Latvia.

And apparently, Chambers’ presence isn’t just a visit, and it appears like he will have a role with Gilas Pilipinas, at least in the preparation for the OQT.
This was later confirmed by Gilas Pilipinas team manager Richard Del Rosario, who said they are looking to bring in Chambers for this buildup with two deputies, LA Tenorio and Josh Reyes, not around.

“Coach Sean is helping us out in the absence of LA (Tenorio) and Josh Reyes,” said Del Rosario. “We are trying to have him join the team in our trip.”
Tenorio and Reyes have been part of Gilas as assistant coaches. Tenorio is coming off a stint with Barangay Ginebra while Reyes is the head coach of the Gilas Youth bound for the Fiba Under-17 World Cup, and won’t make it to the OQT.
In this Gilas foray, Chambers is reuniting with Cone, his head coach during his stint with Alaska as an import where he won six championships including the PBA grand slam in 1996.
The 59-year-old Chambers has since returned to the Philippines, and accepted an offer to coach FEU in the UAAP.
