JAMIE Malonzo remains very much a part of Gilas Pilipinas and will be coming over to the country for the national team’s buildup for the opening window of the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers.
Gilas coach Tim Cone disclosed the former Barangay Ginebra player is scheduled to arrive on Monday in time for the start of the national squad’s training for the home and away qualiiers against Guam on Tuesday.

“Jamie is arriving (on Monday) as well. He’s still a part of the pool, and he’s still very much a part of the pool,” stressed Cone on Sunday.
“He’s been one of the original guys and he’ll continue to be one of the original guys.”

Malonzo left Ginebra at the end of last season for the Japan B.League, only to be released by the Kyoto Hannaryz just five games into their season.
The high-flying Fil-Am forward last suited up for Gilas during the FIBA Asia Cup in Saudi Arabia in August, but played minimal minutes as the Filipinos bowed out at the quarterfinals stage after losing to Australia, 84-60.
