JAMIE Malonzo's time in Kyoto Hannaryz lasted only five games.
The Fil-Am forward, the former Barangay Ginebra forward who stunned the PBA by leaving for the Japan B.League team at the end of last season, had his contract terminated by Kyoto on Friday.

Malonzo, 29, hasn't really been able to get his groove in the Land of the Rising Sun, averaging only 1.2 points and 1.0 rebound in 6.2 minutes of play as Kyoto started off the season with a single win in five games.
Still, Malonzo is available to sign as a free agent with any other B.League team, although a return to the PBA is unlikely since he is believed to be covered by the three-year ban on free agents leaving to play in other leagues.

The Korean and Taiwanese pro leagues can also be an option for the former La Salle high-flyer, who is still a member of the 16-man Gilas Pilipinas pool of concurrent Ginebra coach Tim Cone.
Malonzo was drafted second overall by NorthPort [now Titan] in the PBA Season 46 draft and was traded to Ginebra in September 2022 for Prince Caperal, Arvin Tolentino, and a 2022 first-round draft pick.
He left for the B.League in July 2025.
