GILAS Pilipinas is scheduled to play tune-up games in China where they will be playing national teams as preparations continue for the Fiba Basketball World Cup.
Head coach Chot Reyes said the tune-up matches are set after practices in Manila. The Philippine team returns home after several tuneup games in Europe.

Reyes didn’t specify which squads they are playing, but sees tougher games in the China series as Gilas will go up against national teams.
“I think that’s the most important thing as we continue to grow from the lessons that we learned here [Europe], to improve, and then prepare for tough games in our China series in which we are going to play full national team again,” said Reyes in an interview posted by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
Gilas Pilipinas won three out of their six tune-up games, two in Estonia and four in Lithuania, in their training camp.
But Gilas is more focused not on the outcome of the matches but the learnings and experience that will be valuable when they play the games that matter in the 2023 Fiba Basketball World Cup.
Gilas closed their tune-up series in Europe on a high note with a 125-102 win over a Lithuania team bound for the World University Games.
So far, Reyes indicated that Gilas is making strides in the preparation even though the team is also hounded with injuries with the absence of Scottie Thompson, Dwight Ramos, and AJ Edu in the games.
