KEVIN Quiambao is certain of suiting up for Gilas Pilipinas in the final window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers next month.
The assurance was made by national coach Tim Cone on Wednesday night, saying the two-time UAAP MVP will join the team in its training camp in Doha, Qatar and travel with them in away games against Chinese Taipei and New Zealand.

“Yes, Kevin is fine. We spoke to him. He’ll be with us in Doha and the trip,” said Cone of the big man out of De La Salle.
Quiambao is coming off ankle injury suffered in his debut with the Goyang Sono Skygunners in the Korean Basketball League (KBL), but already suited up for the team the other day in a 94-69 loss to Anyang JKJ.

He finished with 14 points, five assists, and four rebounds in a showing that augurs well for Gilas’ hectic schedule in the next coming weeks, especially with Kai Sotto ruled out after suffering an ACL tear in his left knee.
“He’s a guy that we’ll look at, talk to trainers and see if he needs to be load management as well,” said Cone of Quiambao.
“He needs to be held back at times, but right now, he’s telling us that he’s ready to go one hundred percent. That’s the word that we got.”
