COLLEGIATE teams are a step closer to the resumption of practices after the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) completed a draft of its guidelines.

"It’s ready for public consultation," said chairman Prospero de Vera on Friday. "It has already been approved by the commission en banc on Wednesday."

Consultations are essential part of the process as it brings up possible amendments and improvements before the CHED memorandum order (CMO) is finalized.

That should be welcome news for varsity teams which have been aching to go back to the hardwood after months of inactivity.

Major leagues like the UAAP and the NCAA have pencilled their return for the first quarter of 2021. That, however, is still dependent on the global COVID-19 pandemic.

De Vera explained that it is only after the public consultations, where representatives from the leagues and the schools further tackle the said protocols, that the chairman can sign the CMO.
