CARL Tamayo continued to ball out overseas as he was distinguished as the MVP of the third round of the ongoing Korean Basketball League (KBL) season.
The Changwon LG Sakers forward has been on a tear to open the new year, putting up a pair of 30-point games to lead his team to the upper half of the standings.
Tamayo is the first Asian import to be honored with the feat this season.
KBL: Carl Tamayo shines anew as JD Cagulangan impresses in debut
That continued last Monday when he got the better of former University of the Philippines teammate JD Cagulangan in the Sakers’ 78-70 win over Suwon KT Sonicboom at Suwon KT Arena.
Now a marked man, Tamayo only nabbed eight points, five rebounds, two assists, and one steal but was a positive presence on the court for Changwon, which rose to 16-13.
On the flipside, Cagulangan got nine points, three dimes, and one board in his first faceoff against his Fighting Maroons peer, but that couldn’t help the Sonicboom from dropping to 15-13.
