BOBBY Ray Parks Jr. became the latest addition to the Gilas pool that began the buildup for the Jones Cup on Tuesday at the Meralco Gym.

Parks showed up and joined the rest of the 15-man pool that included new boys Baser Amer and Raymar Jose in the training that lasted for a little over an hour.

Gilas coach Chot Reyes, though, said Parks will not be playing in the Jones Cup next month because the team has already submitted the lineup to Taipei organizers.

"Ray called me the other day, he said he wanted to come in and wanted to be part of the pool and I said he's welcome. Unfortunately we've already submitted our lineup for the Jones Cup," Reyes said.

But Reyes clarified the former UAAP MVP can still don the national team colors in the other tournaments like the Fiba Asia Cup and SEA Games.

"Certainly for the other tournaments he can still make it but he has to earn the spot just like everyone else," said Reyes.

"He said he's fine with it. So he started coming to practice. We're officially adding him now to the Gilas pool."

Parks was just glad to be back with the national team.

"At the end of the day, it's all about the Philippines as a nation representing the country, especially with what the country's going through right now," Parks said.
