MARK BELO had 19 points and 14 rebounds as Far Eastern University won its first official game without Terrence Romeo and RR Garcia, beating San Sebastian, 83-73, on Thursday in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League Luzon-Metro Manila at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Achie Inigo had 14 points, while Anthony Hargrove added 14 points, 15 rebounds for the Tamaraws, who started on a positive note after Romeo and Garcia moved on to the pros at Globalport in the PBA.
“It’s a different feeling but we look at it on a positive side,” said FEU coach Nash Racela. “I know it’s going to be hard moving forward without them but that’s college basketball. You have to do what you have.”
Mike Tolomia added 11 points, six rebounds, and eight assists for the Tamaraws, who will next face National University in the Luzon-Metro Manila stepladder playoff on Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
CJ Perez had 20 points for the Stags, who were without head coach Topex Robinson due to his duties as assistant coach of Alaska in the PBA.
The game was delayed in the first quarter after the scoreboard clock malfunctioned.
