EJ OBIENA maintained his top form after the 31st Southeast Asian Games with a 5.85-meter performance in the European City of Sports in front of the Basilica di Santa Maria di Collemaggio in L’Aquila, Italy.
Obiena took the gold in the event with a vault 0.39 meters beyond his SEA Games record of 5.46 he registered just last May 14.
The result is also just 0.08 meters below his personal best of 5.93 he set in Innsbruck, Austria, which is also an Asian record.
In a Facebook post, Obiena said he was also glad to compete in the historic area as “it’s not everyday we get to jump in such beautiful places.”
