FORMER professional wrestler The Ultimate Warrior has passed away, just days after he was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Fame.
The WWE reported in its website about the passing of the iconic wrestler whose birth name is James ‘Brian’ Hellwig, although the cause of death was not mentioned. He was 54.
His death came after his induction in the WWE Hall of Fame, an appearance in Wrestlemania 30 on Sunday and in the company’s weekly TV show Raw on Monday (Tuesday Manila time).
“We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans,” said the WWE in its website.
“WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans. Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters,” the statement added.
Hellwig, known for his intense persona who legally changed his named to Warrior in 1993, was best remembered for beating Hulk Hogan in Wrestlemania VI for the WWE title.
